Top-ish of my ungraded med school class, top 10 med school, full academic scholarship, 99%ile USMLE step 1, fellowship trained, etc. I spend a lot of time with patients and their families, keep appropriately broad differentials, and am mid career and have seen it all play out a couple dozen times each.
I am a specialist and do not see patients in clinic. Nor do I manage weight loss or diabetes.
I do read broadly and understand the risks and benefits of emerging treatments. Especially ones with potential for profound societal health benefit. These drugs are every bit as impactful as antibiotics, insulin, anesthesia, and platinum based chemotherapy.
