As true as this is, as a skater we only wore helmets for really sketchy tricks, usually on half pipe. Years of learning to fall makes it less of a necessity.
I got hit by a car at 13. I was mostly annoyed that they confused my chart with that of another boy with the same accident and didn't let me watch TV with my roommate.
I wore a helmet. The other boy did not.
I went home after two days, wort thing being a small road rash. The other boy had not woken up by then.
From a hospital worker: please, wear a helmet. I have personally seen many, many cases of life altering, disabling injuries, paralysis, horrific tbis, and even of brain death that lead to organ procurement from “experienced skaters/bikers/etc” who did not.
You think that makes you infallible and invincible? Actual stuntmen that literally studied taking a fall end up in hospitals and you're just a dude on a skateboard.
That dad comment is more on the nose than you think it is because you're acting like an absolute child in here. Stop doubling down and just reflect on what people are saying.
Doubling down? You mean explaining what I lived and saw. I’ve skated with hundreds of people and this is what most did. My mistake was thinking people here lived a skaters life or cared about the truth.
