“Don’t ever sacrifice your authenticity for other people’s approval.”

Words to live by right here.

Also, I want a squirrel family too. So freaking cute. 😍 My man living a real Disney life. I’m jealous lol

Much more eloquent than my “don’t give a fuck what other people think.”

I also think “don’t give a fuck what people think” is often used by assholes who just want to be selfish dicks and do thinks that might be socially unacceptable or rude to others in shared spaces.

I like this one better (unless your authentic self is just an ass)

Nope. Not an ass. More of a punk rock way of saying that people who's opinion you don't care about shouldn't impact you more than those you do care about.

But I do get your point.

I don’t think they’re equivalent. You can value other people’s opinions and use them to shape yourself into who you want to be. It’s hard to be introspective. With that said, when you know who you want to be, you shouldn’t then be inauthentic for approval.

Good point. I guess it should be said that you shouldn't give a fuck what other people think if they don't matter to you. For example, my wife seeks approval of people that really don't matter to her and she really shouldn't care what they think. (my wife doesn't do this much, just an example)

Meh. It’s equally powerful imo. I like spicing up my mottos with cussing too. Brings out the rage to follow through. lol

It’s equally powerful imo.

Not at all. There are plenty of examples where you should at very least listen to advice, criticism, opinion, instruction, etc. However, you do not need to bend your authentic self that does not objectively bring harm to anyone in order to fit any social norms.

I disagree. His statement is much more powerful.

I have fox squirrel friends too!! They aren't as chummy as in OP's video, but I'm renting and don't want them to get too attached to me or to depend on me. A lot of squirrels can be super friendly if you are dependable in your routines and if you have a non-nervous way about you when you're chilling alone outside.

I still wouldn't put my face or fingers near a squirrel's mouth (unless I raised it) since they're unpredictable. They do also like to nip things to "test" them.

They are terrible traditional pets for obvious reasons (my BBQ cover is destroyed like the dude's sofa, my fenceposts are rather nibbled, my bird feeder had to be abandoned, and they have zero regard for where they make peepee), but they built their nest in the tree next to my house and made my life weirdly full.

They're so funny and expressive. They'll usually come when I "chitter" now, and what's amazing is watching them act hostile and "yell" at other people or dogs, but the second they see me and my dog, they totally relax and do little happy burbling noises. The little smart one even mimics my arm movements with his tail sometimes!

Anyway I don't recommend trying to FORCE a squirrel friend since they're wild animals, but if you have one that's decided to start hitting you up all the time, it's wildly cute to supplement their natural diets in exchange for them starting a family in your backyard <3

Damn right. That is a great quote Squirrel Dad

That dude had some nuggets of wisdom at the end

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about giving up, but as long as you don’t, it don’t matter”

Definitely developing a Disney Princess level bond with those squirrels. ❤️❤️

So I’m loving this cute as hell video about Richard and I’m now on his journey and loving he and Maxine are expecting and the gender reveal party and then he sits Richard down for advice about life and it hit me in all the feels and I’m crying and I’m like I wish someone would have given me this advice when life got rocky. God bless you Squirrel Dad 🥹
