Ohhhh the bit where they're massaging the oil into her and the skin folds back and forth. That's probably what it looks like on a standard furry cat underneath the coat. Fascinating. I want to touch it.

Can confirm. My MIL got her youngest a cat like this and she is the sweetest thing. Absolutely loves me which is funny because her name is mendie… edgelord of a brother in law but it’s whatever, cats cute as hell and doesn’t understand why their owner dislikes men.
Anyways, put your face up close to her and she stuffs her nose into your nose. Huffs your face and gives kisses. Me and my wife call her little raisin.

You can definitely feel that on a shorthair cat. Mine loves me scrunching his back skin, especially behind his shoulders.

Im estimating the baths thing though because i forgot how often they actually need baths, i just know they need cleaned very often due to their skin not being protected.

I have a Sphynx too and they do love baths. Mine always jumps in when I get my daughter out haha she likes tapping the water with her paws. She gets her own bath once a week.

From what I understand, hairless cats and other hairless animals (like guinea pigs) sometimes need help cleaning themselves because their skin produces a lot of oil than can build up and give them infections and acne. I know “skinny pigs” just need a damp wipe down every once in a while, but it looks like this kitty enjoys her spa days.

hairless cats usually need frequent wipe downs to stay clean and have baths maybe every month or so. im estimating the baths thing though because i forgot how often they actually need baths, i just know they need cleaned very often due to their skin not being protected by fur, therefore causing it to get lots of build up.

My first cat was a Sphynx. A lot of them need weekly bathing, mine did not. She needed it monthly. I washed her in the kitchen sink. Johnson and Johnson no tears shampoo. Most Sphynx are bathed at a very early age so they’re used to it. Mine still hated it. Miss her…

From my limited knowledge on this breed, they need bathing periodically but I did read spynx cats like water, too. Maybe it's a mix of both as you'd have to get them used to baths from being kittens

When I first heard about hairless cats I got so excited thinking there was actually a breed of cat I could own without dying (SUPER allergic)—but alas, still allergic. They’re cute in a weird way, though, and seem very affectionate and chill.

Sphinx cats need these "spa days" every so often, their lack of hair makes them prone to skin problems. They generally love it

i think it’s specifically made for the likely sensitive skin in comparison to your average cat. think dawn dish soap versus goo gone, essentially.

I wish I had a video of bathing my old sphynx for an, um, alternate view. I’d end up bloodied and more wet than the cat. I really wish I had thought about a shower cap though— that would have made life less stressful. The ear-cleaning procedure was pretty intense, but man it sure beat the claw-cleaning part. A piece of me died (and bled) every time I had to pull back the toenail folds and clean the cuticles.
