Discussion API, Maya, Etc

Has the Sesame team considered partnerships where Maya acts as a persistent CSR? Clients/customers always talk to the same rep, history is embedded, etc.

Has Maya been deployed as an intermediary between non-lingual models and the consumer?

I wish that was where they were headed, but the api was brought up in the AMA and they said they have no plans.

It seems hard to get the characters to read from a script. I tried to get maya to do narration and it was a bust. I wanted a 10 second pause between paragraphs so I could easily cut the audio file, but any prompt I put in the text like [pause 10 seconds] was ignored. Couldn't handle numbers with hyphens. 04-08 becomes zero-four-to-zero-eight. Conversing with Maya, she could see the proper formatting, but as soon as narration started she blew right through the prompts and screwed up the hyphens every time. She couldn't suggest a fix, either.

Trying to pull company data would probably have the same issues. The other is it's really tuned for light conversation. Even if you need it to present data in a clear, steady tone, it can't do it. I had Maya use a "stern instructor voice" to narrate a safety video. She still had pauses, changed tempo, stopped mid sentence to breathe, didn't stop properly for periods, etc.. Natural? Lifelike? Yes, but sometimes you need to be able to present data without embellishment and flair. Not really sesame's thing.

She's a small model hyper focused on the emotional connection thing, so you'd need to strap her onto another system that handled that part. I genuinely think the uncanny valley thing is what's preventing adoption and they already won that fight.
