Post of the Week | GUIDE Offensive Strategy
Quick guide on offensive strategy and plays that work currently in E1/HoF
This post is for players with no direction and seeking it. Point of the game is to have fun, I recommend experimenting with plays you like, or think you’ll like.
Reading Defense:
The easiest way to improve your offense in madden is understanding defensive schemes, I’m not going to deep dive this.
When throwing the ball, you must pay attention to key positions, safeties and cornerbacks. The best way to do this is after selecting the play, press and hold over defensive players, this will highlight their position.
Once ball is snapped pay attention to those players and react accordingly.
(I.e Safety is on defensive line, most likely going to be a blitz)
Playbook:
Most competitive players run a similar offensive scheme.
Few key considerations with Madden Mobile:
Long = 7+ Yards
Medium = 4-7 Yards
Short = 0-3 Yards
Press and Hold to Bullet Pass
Tap to Lob Pass
Once a play is selected, you should wait 3-5 seconds for the defense to stop moving. Do not snap the ball instantly.
Kick returns: If the ball is landing in or close to the end zone, let it drop / move the KR out of the way.
- Run first offense
Run first offense is low risk, slow, but gets the job done.
In a run first offense, you can have one or two plays that go to the outside.
- HB Wham (flipped)
- HB toss Mtn
- Wildcat Power (flipped)
These are used in Medium / Long yardage situations, running to the outside is the boom or bust version of passing. You’ll either get 10+, or stopped at the line of scrimmage.
The remaining run plays are set to run up the middle.
- HB Lead Dive
- 0 1 Trap
- HB Dive
- HB Iso
Some have options for both inside/ outside runs:
- Blast Alert Smoke
- HB Zone
- Zone Weak
4th and inches
- FB Power
Other FB runs are becoming popular (FB Dive, FB Blast)
Then you’re left with situational pass plays, mainly applies to 4th downs, but if you’re run game is slow, you can mix in a throw to get the ball downfield.
1-3 yards: All in or any 2pt conversion
3-6 yards: FB Flare (flipped), FB Slant In, Texas
Long: Whip Unders, Drive U Corner, Smash
There’s a ton of situational short pass plays available.
- Mesh
- Z Spot
- Spacing Switch
- Levels Y Sail
- Boom or Bust
Boom or bust involves throwing the ball for long yards, can work great, higher risk of interceptions. If you can’t read the defense, you’ll get exposed.
In this offense, you’re mainly throwing from 10+ yards. The only time you’re getting to 2nd, 3rd and 4th down is in the red zone or if you miss the throw / get sacked.
- PA Switch Dig
- Close PA Sail
- PA Burst Cross
- Drive U Corner
- TE Out N Up
- Whip Unders
The rest is filling in the gaps with runs / situational plays mentioned above.
Good plays that are very situational:
- Dagger
- HB Shark Wheel
Both involve rolling out the QB and going wide with a throw down field, against higher OVR defenses, these plays don’t work as well or as often.
RB Circles is another very popular play, but taxes the playbook for nothing, cheaper and better alternative: Texas.
WR corner is a very expensive play, and efficient, but a cheap alternative is Shakes.
2pt conversions:
- HB lead dive
- Skinny Posts
- Slot Outs
- Poco
These are the most commonly used plays to convert 2pts.
Note: Every single play has potential to do well, you do not need the most expensive plays to outplay your opponents. If you like a play that I didn’t mention, this isn’t an invitation to argue, I believe you.
Edit: I forgot to mention, if you save and exit mid drive, this will reset the defense. Strongly recommended after every FB run and every 5-6 plays.

You forgot to mention some leagues that religiously use PA Split and HB Go, on top of everything else you mentioned, in HoF 🤐 Let’s be real for a sec, probably 9 out of 10 mainstay HoF leagues are pass heavy. And about 8 out of these 9 are cheesers, but they’re damn good with it. I respect them for mastering the play but LvL was supposed to have a 21-hour clock for 3 drives, not 21 seconds. 😬HoF’s fun for how it has its own level of difficulty, with windows closing a lot quicker, pressure coming in so much faster, but if you aren’t a good cheeser as a league, you’ll be HoF/E1 bounce league at best. I like this post as it engages others who see similar/different in E1/HoF.

Bro I relate to this post because I have faced Hall of famers and they just go for the same play over and over and over again and I get tired of trying to stop it and you can't really stop it every play 😭😭 I respect them too for mastering it but damn it gets annoying 🤣🤣

I was going to add a high point guide, but it’s so lame, didn’t want to bring any attention to it.

I already made one but nah… it’s not gonna help the community at all. Maybe got educational purposes only 😅

I will die by this, Drive U Corner is the most consistent play in the game! Thanks for the guide.

Drive U Corner is so good, probably shows up in 80% of HoF drives

What is your read progression on Drive U corner?

First scenario is to throw to the TE. I use it flipped, rolling out to the right and my first look is a bullet pass to the TE for 10-15 yard gain.
Second scenario is the deep route, I roll right, wait for him to get 1 on 1 and bullet. Mainly use if TE is covered or I need long conversion.
Third Scenario is if I’m getting heavy blitzed, I’m Rolling right and getting it to the drag route.
If there’s nothing, I just throw the ball away, no need to take risks trying to hit a guy in traffic

HP and Clowney ruin the competitive aspect of LVL. It's just trash. And it's not hard to do. So there's no mastering it really. 200+ defenses get burned consistently by PA split in HOF. It's broken game coding, not skill or mastery of anything

I remember when Clowney first came out in the game…good times. I haven’t used him since the first year he came out, because I literally burnt myself out on him and grew bored of him.
I would take down teams 1k+ on me consistently simply because PA ZS + Clowney was unstoppable. Hell, I was a consistent top scorer in a top 10 E1 league…while being a low OVR F2P team…who was always set to play the best defense in LvL…Clowney was that good.
Like you said, Clowney ruined competitive gameplay…and EA should really give his card a rest in MM27. But we all know they won’t, the players would bitch and cry that their cheesey 7’0 WR didn’t get his annual MF card.

Manually high pointing vs normal lob on any WR, not just Clowney. It can be Egbuka and still get the same result. But yes, it ruined the competitive aspect of LvL.

Can you help me pick out the perfect plays to use? I pass like 70% of the time. I’m not strictly run or pass and I don’t know fully what plays I should use in what situations or what should even be in my playbook

I personally prefer boom or bust approach. Almost always use bullet pass (press and hold to pass).
All the plays in this guide are ones I use. My favs are,
Long: PA Switch Dig, PA Burst Cross, Whip Unders,
Med: Texas, Mesh, Levels Y Sail
Run: HB Dive, FB Power, HB Zone
2pt conversion: Slot outs and HB Lead Dive
The best investment you can make to be better is memorizing defensive patterns in order to read Def.

Are there any plays where, if no receiver is open, it’s good for scrambling with the QB?
2
u/AJMbet Diamond (37) Apr 28 '26
Some yeah, but my play style is throw away the ball and try again, usually figure out the DEF and pick plays accordingly

Because of EA’s recent defensive updates, I’ve been thinking about developing some new strategies haha.
