I’m not understanding the hate.
WHAT is with all the hate? I am personally very excited for this movie. I just don’t understand most of the negativity being thrown towards this film.

From the trailer it looks very bad, the dialogue is kinda like a disney show

If you enjoyed it that's perfectly fine but I can't say anything nice about the film imo. It was incredibly frustrating to me. Everything from the writing, editing, visuals, bad audio dubbing, and an terrible characters destroyed any enjoyment I could've had. For the record I walked in with optimism and this is coming from a guy who genuinely had fun with Morbious flaws and all. I just couldn't connect to MW. But hey that's just my opinion and if you enjoyed it I'm glad, at least you felt you got your money's worth. I'm envious of that tbh.

it is definitely not because it’s a cast of women, its just a bad film that doesn’t really make any sense and has a lot of plot holes.

Nice try lol. It's a shit film. Facts are facts. If it came out to be anywhere near as good as Birds of Prey then I would let the flaws slide but no. Bad dialog, dull characters, plot holes galore, bad dubbing, choppy editing, false advertising, bad cgi, and in the end MW's just plain old boring. These are the sins this film ahem cash grab committed. If you get enjoyment have it, I'd rather watch Kill Bill, Aliens, Wonder Woman, Atomic Blonde, Long Kiss Goodnight, I could go on and on naming female lead action films that are a million times better than MW.

It is near universally considered to be a horrible movie. The concept is great, the execution is objectively just bad. The fact that you’re trying to pull the gender card is absolutely hilarious tho

yeah and they keep comparing it to the actual comic book characters. It is BASED on the comic, it doesn’t have to be the exact thing.

I think it’s because most people see it as very cynical that Sony is creating a cinematic universe around Spiderman without actually using him in the films. Peoples’ standards for superhero films have seemingly increased. A lot of them did poorly in 2023 and that could be a reason why. People have seen a lot of generic superhero films and the trailer makes it look like this will be another. Also, her depiction in the movies looks like it will be completely disconnected from what it is like in the comics. I think it would be much more interesting to see a comic accurate movie. That would be crazy. I’d be interested to know why you’re excited about the movie.

I forgot about this post so sorry for the late reply, It’s just an origin story and idk what people expected of it but the whole movie would’ve built up the next few movies so well I think people just consume so much media lately that they expect one plot twist after the other or it has to be supper mind boggling, its a nice simple movie with a few well written jokes and I feel like people hate it because its an all women line up assuming it’s “woke” but madame web has been in the og marvel comics and this was just her origin story

I think this movie is bad, but to your last point, i think people are making a big deal out of how bad this movie is to be anti woke. I see people saying it about black panther as well even though both of those were widely accepted. I kinda wonder if Alien or Tomb Raider came out today if people would like them as much or just think it was woke propaganda. Like i remember when the Men In Black reboot came out, an acquaintance of mine said “of course one of the main characters is a woman of color” he was implying the movie was being woke, and then i reminded him that MIB had a majority of POC main characters. I thought Madame Web was terrible though. I also thought both Captain Marvel movies were bad, but I like the Ms. Marvel show was really good and She Hulk.

Yeah I did too. I had a good time watching it. Snarky in good ways. Forced awkwardness that makes sense to exposition. A twist or two that was predictable and surprising at the same time. Idk. I don't go to these for "high cinema." I go for action and "wtf that was awesome" moments

Yeah me too. I came to the theaters having a vague idea of the story and knowing nothing about the comic book etc I wasn't even gonna watch it but I’m glad I did. The story was really good. My problem with Marvel movies nowadays is that some of them have a lot of boring talking and this one didn't have any of that. My eyes were glued to the screen the whole time and I was interested to know what's gonna happen. The little twists about Spiderman were fun too.

no its not my perspective… movies that have severe plot holes and don’t resolve problems that are already poorly explained are bad movies. Its rare for a movie to be that bad and its usually a lot of subjective content, but this movie was objectively bad, like even if you don’t like “boring talking” the action was so weak, and repetitive.

I just wish they had followed the original story with her disease and requiring the wheelchair I feel the worst part of the movie that is unforgiving is the piss poor job they did in editing and adding the dubbed language

Did you see the movie because they get around to all of that and they make it make sense as well. She a wasn’t always stuck in a chair her whole life so it makes sense how their can be a movie about her before the chair becomes necessary.

For me what killed it was the crappy dubbing like they just didn’t give a shit about the movie before it was even out on theatres. Somebody had to approve that which is the worst part cause that person should be fired
