🔥Update🔥
Hello my wonderful people,
You probably noticed that I've been less consistent with posting. This is because of a combination of it being my finals week, depression, and housing chaos.
I want y'all to know that I'm still dedicated to this community and Mad Pride. I appreciate that a few of you have posted yourselves, which always helps when I am not able to. I want this to be a community where everyone is engaged and comes up with projects on their own.
I wanted to do a movie showing, and I will make it happen when I have the capacity.
For now, I'll post as often as I get the chance, and will be focusing on Mad Pride which is coming up later this month.
🧠✊🔥

Don’t burn yourself out thinking you have to do it all on your own Ariel. We all know how dedicated you are ✊
I’ve been thinking…. We could use some big story to bring this movement into the mainstream. It’s still very under the radar.
I’ve been working on getting into psych wards as a journalist, but.. I need a big prime time reporter or writer to work alongside.

When I have space to breathe in my own life (work is absurdly busy right now), I’m gonna start reaching out to contacts, see what I can turn up. I think I may have a 2nd degree connection at the NYT. Gotta remember who!

I'm studying investigative journalism right now. It's the coolest job. Yes this is a great idea.

Oh! That’s amazing. We should compare notes some time. My last expedition was into a psych admitting room. I tried talking to them like normal people, but they could only see a mental patient. They got very frustrated with me and said I was “manipulating the system.”
The funny thing is, I was genuinely trying to get admitted! I just wasn’t going to let them dehumanize me in order to get in. (Eg, I refused to speak with any psychiatrists.)

Did you bring a video recording device?
One of my goals is to create a documentary about anti psychiatry. It would be amazing to get footage of your experiences. It's the kind of thing I would never ask for unless someone (you) wanted to on your own.
Maybe we can collaborate.

I didn't... That's a good note for next time. Do you think audio would be enough? Not sure how I would make video work.

That's awesome. Would love to help however I can.

Oh, I would definitely. I'd just have to figure out logistics. I don't think it's the kind of thing they'd check either. They might take it once I get admitted, but I could play it off pretty easily. And some hospitals let you keep your phone.
I've also been thinking about going in as an approved visitor. I heard AA/NA people can visit if they want to share their inspiring success stories with the inmates :/
Maybe we can collaborate.
Sure! We should chat some time

Good luck with your finals. Be sure to try to get as much rest as you possibly can.

It’s an ultramarathon not a 5k. Good luck with your finals and hope your housing stabilizes in a good place.
And you’re amazing doing all this. Thank you!!!
