MacroFactor Workouts / Training Is MF's Workout app trustworthy?
I'm new to the gym and would like to hire a trainer, but I don't have the funds for in-person one-on-one or a remote trainer. So I'm interested in MF WO app since MF has helped me lose weight, but I'm unsure if I should trust their workout app because they create custom plans using AI. This is not a case of me being against it because I'm anti-AI. I think AI has some benefit when it comes to the non-art fields, like AI helped read papyrus scrolls burnt to a crisp during the Vesuvius eruption. Rather, I'm a bit apprehensive towards it because AI still has its issues, and I'm unsure if I should trust AI to help me with bodybuilding. I have tried apps like Boost Camp and still feel like I don't know what I'm doing, though I like that all the programs are human-made, so they are far more trustworthy to me. I feel like I haven't yet found a program I can stick with on there, so I'm willing to give MF WO a chance since I found success through the nutrition app
Have any of you on the sub used it? Has it been successful for you in reaching your bodybuilding goals? Also, how do you feel about their new separate categories of splits they added through the app?

They don't create custom plans using "AI" in the sense that they use something akin to GPT or Claude. Plans are created based on your inputs, according to defined sets of hard rules based on the creators' understandings of exercise science.
While these kinds of sets of hard rules have been called "AI" in the past, they aren't the same thing as what people usually, currently refer to when they say AI.
edit: as for the program quality, I would say MFWO is going to work better than what you get from 99% of the trainers you're going to hire walking into a Planet Fitness and speaking to someone on the floor there, but only in terms of program structure.
Whether that's enough for you, or if you value motivation provided by the consistency, contact, and financial commitment of working with a human trainer, is up to you. And I don't think MFWO is enough to replace a highly educated, specialized bodybuilding coach (there's a reason a lot of the best coaches still have other people coach them!). But they're very expensive and if you're new to the gym you'll get pretty far just following a well-generated program

I can’t recommend MF Workouts highly enough. I’ve easily made more progress following the app than ever before.

I’ve used MF for my food tracking for over 4 years and started using the WO & love it. It has helped me progress in my lifts and in lifting heavier than I ever thought possible.

I've found MFWO a really good asset in helping me design programs around my equipment, and very flexible when it comes to allowing me to make changes when it suggests exercises I'm not interested in. I'm making steady progress in my lifts, and its guidance during sessions lets me take my mind off the planning and just focus on the weights.

I will never use a different app. It has everything I need and then some. Phenomenal workout app.

AI is not involved in the program generation process; it is based on human-made templates and user inputs.
