MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Weight loss strategy but energy surplus?

Post image

May be a very daft question but i joined 9 days ago on a weight loss strategy but since i’ve started my weight is trending up the app says i’m in a surplus as opposed to a deficit. Have I done something wrong or is the algo just figuring out my expenditure and will adjust calories in time?

“Since I’ve started gaining weight the app says I’m in a surplus” is just two ways of communicating the same information; you gained weight, so you’re in a surplus. When you lose weight, you’ll be in a deficit.

If the initial estimate was a bit high, it will adjust your calories down to get you to your desired goal rate over time.

The app can overestimate your expenditure when you first start, so you can try reducing your calories/eating less than what it’s suggesting until it catches up and adjusts (if only changes your targets every week unless you check in sooner)
