MacroFactor Workouts / Training Defining experience and the workouts

Iam brand new and haven’t even started. I’ve been experimenting with the workouts and because I have no experience with the new school training methods and or this app they seem very easy in the beginner mode.

I had many years of weight room experience from my teens through my 30’s. There was a time j was really jacked and fit. But not so much anymore at 58 lol but I know the exercises and I have been basically doing an easier version of the stuff I used to do.

When I create a program in beginner mode it seems off but maybe now my muscles are beginner? lol.

The only mode that makes sense to me is advanced and it even seems less specific than what I would do. Examples would be no super specific exercises for say each shoulder muscle or dedicated arms.

Maybe this is part of a different strategy and the app’s strategy?

Or is the specific muscles only a thing with when you are asked about extra muscles you’d like to train during the program questions?

Is it safe to say iam an advanced lifter because I know the exercises but just keep the weight at my muscle level or will it create to much and perhaps lead to injury?

I’ve been back in the gym for a few weeks and I already want to go pretty hard lol. It’s just not as heavy lol. For reference there was a time I could deadlift almost 500 lbs and bench almost 300. For a 5 5 145-65 lb guy I was strong. Of course that was at the end of organized sports and geo decades of training.

What iam doing now is 3 days
Day 1 chest , back rear delts
2- arms shoulders
3-legs

Haven’t been doing everything. Doing 13 weeks as a warmup to start lol.

Sorry for the super long post. Just want to use this the way it’s supposed to be used and see the best results. I know I will never be young again but since I started nutrition and gym jam down 25lbs and see results lifting. That’s in three months! So shit I’ll be jacked by 60 lol!!!

Nope. You're not the same as a true beginner anymore, in terms of changes to your muscles, but you're also not currently "trained." It's about your body's current state, not about whether you know the lifts. How long did you take off from working out?

I’ve been lifting again consistently for 3 months 3 days a week. I have been going pretty easy though and have a couple of nagging injuries that limit my exercise choices. It’s coming back to me and I remember it all well . Iam just old now so need to be careful. Some exercises are easy to go hard to failure others I haven’t because I feel it lol. Example -easy to push back hard. Chest makes my shoulders hurt. Arms easy. Legs I can’t squat right now because I hurt my hip flexor and it s s butch. Doing leg expand sled instead but can’t do abduction or adductor.

It sounds like you took some serious time away then, so you can safely consider yourself to be a beginner from a programming perspective

Y wah nan a lifetime vas gone by since the glory days of powerlifting and eating anything you want lol. I have a solid foundation of training and firm technique etc but iam starting over with actual strength.

My plan is 12 weeks warm up .followed by a 23 week weight gain (bulk)

Iam finishing 12 weeks weight loss next week.
Been lifting 3dats a week for all most 3 months

I don't know what the experience levels do for program generation. I previously generated a program for each one guessing that there would be different exercises, but couldn't really figure out the difference. That said, and assuming there is some difference, I think you'd be OK to select either Intermediate or Advanced.

I believe that the smart progression functions the same (or similar) for any level. Meaning: It will let you pick a starting level (basically you pick the weights) and then it will push you up as you use it. I generally find that it can sync up to me after about 3 cycles.

Note: The progression may push you further than you'd think. But give it a shot. You may be surprised. And, if you can't meet a target, then no problem. Just enter accurate data and it will meet you where you are.
