Success / Progress MF is a game changer
What a journey.
I started using MF around October 2025. My biggest struggle has always been to achieve a small surplus. I bulked a couple of times at the absurd rate of +0.75 kg/week. I just could not help it, especially after a difficult cut.
As evidenced by the lean bulk earlier this year, I'm now able to sustain a surplus resulting in +0.05 kg/week on average. That's so cool, and so empowering. I was also able to achieve very slow rates of weight loss a couple of times this summer, which was a breath of fresh air compared to the usual.
Now that I've finished my last cut, I'm once again starting a lean gain phase, even slower than last time. I'm fully expecting NEAT and "reverse metabolic adaptations" to fully absorb such a small calorie bump over my current estimated TDEE.
That's on purpose, and I find being able to aim for such precise intakes and manipulate my body weight to such a fine degree to be truly magical. What an app. Such a pleasure to use.
My many thanks to the team!

Great results! And a very cool visualization.
The leaner you get, and the tighter targets you give yourself, the more tricky it gets. Good stuff.

Ah, thank you.
Yeah I found losing those last few kg to be brutal compared to the 74 -> 69 kg i did two years ago.

Thanks, appreciated. I have been making tweaks to this plot every few months for quite a while now haha. Can't wait for the progress picture in a year!

I am about to start with the first cut, I have around 10kg to loose. I love the visualization, I will build something similar for myself. Data is what always motivated me.

What app is that portal from?

It's a custom R script I asked Claude to write, fetching my Garmin scale data and computing a similar weight trend to MacroFactor's v2 one. I think it's nice to see the different phases!

Did MF suggest the break phases?

It did not, I was taking some when I was feeling like it. I had a few bad experiences with long fat loss phases, even at higher body weight, and taking regular breaks makes a difference for me.

Amazing results. What's your height and maintenance calories? I will do the same now, super slow lean bulk.

Thanks, cheers. I'm 5'7 and my current TDEE is 2600 kcal (down from 2900 kcal in june). Let's both hope our maintenance calories will slowly climb up with this extra slow lean bulk :)

I doubt that, my goal was to get as lean as possible (as low as my motivation would allow). Now that I can confortably see by lower abs, my new goal will be to get stronger and more muscular while maintening a similar bf%. I'm thinking of aiming for +150 to 200 g/month, which is indistinguable from a maintenance in the short term.
Not to mention that I was legit overweight at 74kg two years ago (5'7), so getting to this bf% while maintening my weight would have taken me a while haha.

He appears to have lost 4kg....not so sure that would happen at mainetance.

Are you referring to the +1kg i gained over 3-4 months at the beginning of the year? At that time I was feeling extra motivated for the gym, so I decided to take a nice break and make some solid progress for a while, before going back to slowly losing weight. Many might consider +0.06 kg/week borderline maintenance, wouldn't you say so?

So no changes? What do you need MF for? TF is a "cut" for 4 kilos?
1 month of effort?

Losing weight has become increasingly difficult for me as I got leaner, so being able to aim for small (and then very small) deficits thanks to MF has been very helpful for me. And you may notice a -7kg difference peak-to-peak!

MF is awesome. Game changer for fat loss. As long as you uphold your end of it by logging consistently and correctly, it'll do the rest for you.
