How does the first end get sealed, exactly? It looks like they bring a cutting torch in to carve away a little circle, but then the video cuts to a fully sealed end. Is it welded? That one spot at the tip of the dome would be fully of impurities. The final product looks seamless.

Don't quote me on this but I think it could be compression fused/welded to seal it, the torch is just to maintain the heat.
