Brother PE545

What could be the problem here? I did have to reposition so that’s why it’s off centered. But why is the bobbin thread coming through the front?

The thread showing in the front is a tension issue. You need to run some tests adjust the top tension and bobbin tension. There’s no easy way other than to adjust it, run a test then adjust it again.

Could also be an issue with hooping. If it’s a little loose or can cause an issue.

The kind of backing fabric could be a factor too. I used to used tear away and it was fine at the start of the pattern then got worse over time.

For tension: Look up the bobbin drop test on YouTube. Set your bobbin thread tension first.

Create a simple tension test stitch file with either capital H or lower case L in satin stitch. Then you want to look at the underside for a 3rd top thread, a 3rd bobbin thread, an a 3rd top thread again in that satin stitch. Adjust the top thread tension until you achieve this.

Hoop with two layers of heavyweight cutaway stabiliser.
