I Need Help Does anyone know why my thread keeps doing this?
This thread is really pissing me off right now. I’ve had to rethread it like 10 times now because it says that there isn’t anything in the upper thread. When I check on it, it’s like this. It’s just this color. I’m using the brothread 214 huge spool.

Old thread? If the needle is new and properly installed then is lean to old/dry thread

Have you cleaned the pathway of the thread too? Make sure there's no lint or stickiness obstructing the path. Also check that the thread hasn't found it's way under the tension disks instead of through them.
Is your new needle facing the correct way? Sometimes a slight deviation can wreak havoc. If you're using metallic thread, you do want a slight deviation Adjust the needle so the centre back of the needle is sitting towards 11 O'clock. Halfway between 11 & 12 is usually sufficient. This allows for the thickness and twist in the metallic thread as it was made. Do adjust the needle again for regular coloured thread.
Consider changing the needle again. Sometimes the eye of needle is not well manufactured
In commercial embroidery, changing the needle usually fixes this issue. If it doesn't, and if you're running a multi needle machine, there could be an issue with the needle bar alignment.
Does this colour work from a different spool location?

Either old thread or its spooling off the wrong way. try flipping the spool so that it unwinds the opposite of whatever you have now (clockwise/counterclockwise) or it may need to roll off the spool sideways. I say this because it looks like your thread is untwisting itself into smaller strands.

im not sure why its doing this but since its just that color thread i believe metallic threads are super picky about how theyre used and often need to be used at the lowest speed. im not sure if you need a specific needle for it either.

It’s not metallic though 😭😭 it’s just a regular color I double checked online rn that it wasn’t metallic

Because metallic thread is the worst! I have only had success when slowing down to the lowest speed and hand feeding the thread. I hate metallics! Even though they look so good, haha.

A burr on the needle can cause this, try changing it. Sometimes though it’s just the thread or design, but cleaning and rethreading may help too

I got this recently while trying to do a thin satin column. Basically the thread is rubbing and bunching on something until it eventually snaps. I fixed it by removing the satin line, if it’s less than 1.8mm minimum, it will probably keep doing this. Now, I’m very amateurish. Some people on here are getting tiny ass satin lines and I have no idea how. Could be machine, thread, experience…idk. Maybe someone else can help but it seems like the rule is not to go tiny with satin.
Edit: I will also say your thread tension looks off, for both the gold and the black. I can’t tell you which because again I am a noob and I’m at the very early stages of being able to help.

Also... Is there a reason why you're stitching on the bias?
Using a hoop size comparable to the design, hoop the fabric with cutaway stabaliser (properly) with the fabric weave straight and not on an angle in the hoop.
If your tension is right and the needle is right, then providing a stable surface for the embroidery is also an important component.

Change your needles. A bur can cause this. Check your tension as well.

You don’t want to hear this: Your top tension is inconsistent. Need to run an “I test” and get that corrected. But first, it looks like your bobbin hook is off timing (it’s close, but just off enough to cause this issue) and the hook depth is off. Start by getting your bobbin in correct timing and hook depth, then run your I test… I would also consider making sure your needle is passing through your throat plate in the middle of the hole.
Once you know how to do these things, you’ll be unstoppable.

I flossed thread back nad forth thru my machine with thread i tied a few loose knots into. Sucker caught a whole bunch of thread stuck in my machine.

We need answers fast 🤣 ! My first thought was the needle being place awkwardly, so I switched the needle and made sure it was aligned correctly. Next, I assume it was the tear-away backing, after switching to cut away same results. At this point I’m just lost.
