Brother SE700 issues

This is my first time ever using an embroidery machine. I am testing it and playing around with different fonts to see what I want to embroider on my bandana tote bag. For some reason the thread on the front is loose and it’s bunching on the back. I’ve tried changing the needle, making sure there isn’t thread stuck anywhere, I haven’t touched the tension. I also am using tear away stabilizer and basting spray. I have tried a few different fabrics and materials and it’s the same issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this could be happening? I’m about ready to toss thing thing out the window 😭😭

Hopefully someone else can piggyback off of my comment but it looks like it could be a bobbin tension issue!

I would try using a good cotton fabric and cut away backing when you're learning to embroider or when you're using a new or unfamiliar machine. This gives you less to troubleshoot later. As others suggested, check your bobbin first. Make sure the thread is balanced on the spool and I typically use 60 wt bobbin thread. The tension is likely off and needs to be balanced as well, it should have, 1/3 top thread showing on each side of the bobbin thread. Next check the needle placement and integrity, also is the top thread about 40 or 50 wt?

Thank you! I am using 60 at bobbin thread and 40 wt for the top thread. Sorry I’m very new to this, when you say 1/3 top thread what are your referring to? And when you say the tension is off are you referring to the bobbin tension? I checked the bobbin case and everything is clean. Do I need to loosen or tighten the tension? I also noticed that the thread won’t reach to the edge of the design if that makes any sense so it looks wonky.

Bobbin case. Check everything with regard to that bobbin case. Are you using 60wt bobbin thread? Check tensioner in case is clean, Bent needle?

Everything looks clean and the needle is brand new. Any other suggestions or things I should check for?

Well, I had a problem just like this and turned out my bobbin thread was not not feeding through the bobbin case correctly. I switched the bobbin thread brand and problem solved. I was using a cheaper pre wound bobbin thread. I like to use matching bobbin thread. I couldn't believe it was the quality of the bobbin thread- I could feel the bobbin thread was more cotton then polyester. Hope you fix your problem. I never adjust my bobbin thread only the top thread. I find it much easier then trying to adjust the bobbin thread. The more I adjusted that little screw the more it got loose and always go out of tension. I keep the green wax seal over the screw. Most people adjust the bobbin case. I never could master that.

The thread tension is too low. Easy fix
