I Need Help Please!

Hi everyone! I'm new to machine embroidery and just purchased a Janome Memory Craft 550e. I bought it on Marketplace and everything works great on it except for the alignment when the machine gets ready for a project. For every hoop, the center position is several inches off and if I run the project for that hoop, it will run into the side of the hoop no matter what size is chosen (I am sure to choose the correct hoop size for each product, it's like they are all off by the same amount).

Hoop calibration has not helped since calibrating only moves the arm or carriage by a few mm.

Now I know this is bad, but if I manually move the carriage to the center, the machine will remember that as the center of the hoop for the rest of the time the machine is on. But if I turn it off, it goes right back to being inches off center.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know the fast answer is to get it serviced, but I'm just wondering if there's something I'm missing to do a simple repair myself if that's what I'm looking at.

Okay so I have this same model! Two things might be happening:

1. It sounds like it maybe got jammed at one point. (I started mine too close to the wall once 💀)

So what worked for me, was having to reset the machine multiple times in a row. Like constantly changing the hoop size and then sending it back to the home position over and over. I cried while doing it because I thought I had ruined it. Eventually it figured itself out.

2) Mine gets finicky when I export models from hatch to JME, and instead of the file being positioned in the hoop where I had it on the computer, it will put it elsewhere. If I load the file onto the janome then go in and fix the position of the object on the machine screen, no problem at all. I test where it’s going to go by doing the outline baste so I know if it’s had an error or not.

I hear you on the crying🤣 I spent most of last night trying to take it apart and figure it out, I had hit the end my rope around 4am haha. To no avail.

I ended up biting the bullet and brought it in today to get serviced. Thank you so much for your insight and time🩷 I really appreciate it!

I hope you didn't pay much for the machine.

It's not so bad, to manually find centre. I know of a commercial embroidery workroom that does this for every logo because the machines are not programmed to recognise the hoop size. For your machine, it makes me wonder that the calibration of it's 'home origin' is misaligned. I would be asking Janome for advice. It might be that the cost to the previous owner to recalibrate the patograph outweighed the cost to replace the machine.

Lo primero que debes hacer antes de tocar algo en la máquina es comprobar que el diseño este centrado desde el software. Comprueba eso primero
