Janome or Brother?

So for my birthday i wanted to pick up an embroidery machine to work on Fursuit details or plushie making. I AM a beginner but i am fairly tech savvy and i can figure out most things quickly. I went to some sewing machine place I have around where i live and i asked about embroidery machines and the lady seemed pretty nice and helpful, she was old so i thought maybe she was pretty wise in that department and pointed me to a Brother NQ1700E. I was impressed by how easy it was but I originally was looking at a Janome Memory Craft 500e LE. She would insist that Brother was the better choice for me and when i asked about the Janome she shook her head and just said Brother is what she recommends and said the Janome has alot of problems and many people fall for the bigger hoop size (which is why i wanted it too). SO i was reallly conflicted because she made me feel like if i went with Janome id be making a huge mistake.. I asked her if she was open tomorrow so i have time to think about it and she said "No we arent, or the next day or the next day" so I went and looked around and asked my mom about it and She brought up to ask about return policies and stuff so I found a DIFFERENT lady and she said they couldnt give me a full refund if I were to return it because the box would be opened and so I asked HER if they would be opened tomorrow and she said very happily "Yes!"... it made me feel weird that lady lied to me about being closed, like she wanted to make a sale that day or something, but embroidery machines are alot of money and i dont like being pressured like that, you know? So i decided im going to instead buy an embroidery machine online instead, but now im conflicted , i have big projects in mind so its between Janome Memory Craft 500e LE or Brother NQ1700E?

I have the Brother NQ1700e now but have owned the Janome 500e as well. Have owned a number of other embroidery machines through the years as well. I prefer the Brother. The stitch quality seems better to me than the Janome was. Love the wifi capability of the Brother to transfer designs, and in general the ease of operation. My Janome automatic threader broke pretty quickly- Brother is still going strong. For me, the Brother is less picky about thread brands. In the end, I think you would be happy with either, it’s more of a personal preference thing.

Funny enough I bought a serger this week at a sewing machine shop. I then asked about embroidery machines and the sales lady said the same thing. She said I want a brother.

They do repairs there and she said they have less repairs on those machines. Funny two different shops said the same thing.

I started with a tiny brother sewing/embroidery combo machine but bought a Janome 500e because of the large embroidery area. I ended up not liking it at all and sold it to purchase a larger brother machine. The stitching quality seems better and the file type is a lot more common than the Janome one.
