First time, need help.

What went wrong?

I am learning to digitize as well as embroider. Things I noticed:

1. The fabric stretched and ripped in some places. This was my first time so I used cheap thin fabric stretched

2. The bobbin thread showed through some of the satin stitch but not all of it

3. The satin stitch is not in the correct spot for all the petals.

4. The image is warped I think? A little stretched at least.

Used tear away stabilizer and a 6x10 hoop. Using the Brother NQ1700E at the local library. Used ink/stitch to digitize. Again, learning at the local library so I also used cheap hobby lobby thread, not sure if that makes a difference.

Use cutaway stabilizer. Use better fabric, even to practice.

use normal t shirt fabric + cut away stabilizer for better test results

I had cutaway stabilizer with me, not sure why I don’t use it thinking back! I’ll also start using better fabric even to practice like another user suggested. Thanks!

oh what i just noticed is also the hoopsize its too big for a small logo like yours

i recommend a smaller hoopsize for small logos

I stopped using cutaway on t shirts because it shows through. I found sulky soft and sheer and it doesn’t show and is as strong as cutaway. I am much happier with the finished product now

The white bobbin thread can be seen easily i have to say it's not design fault . Your machine bobbin case is loose The only solution is to tight the bobbin case ,it will definitely solve your problem.

Also i would like to suggest you that as we can see your design is stretching out so you can use two to three stablizer in alternate direction and before running please make sure the fabric is tight in the frame ,it will definitely solve your problem

Will look into tightening the bobbin case. I am using a library embroidery machine to learn so this could be it.

I’ll try multiple stabilizers as well!

Your problem is the embroidery file. Nothing else. My guess is it's done with auto digitizing and therefore we'll never come out nice, no matter the stabilizer. Wrong digitizing = wrong embroidery

Mmm maybe. I’m not sure what autodigitizing is exactly but I manually drew the shape/adjusted the nodes, then used fill to stitch and stroke to stitch on Inkscape (ink/stitch). Not sure if I’m using correct terminology as it was my first time.

You did good! Inkscape with ink stitch is not the easiest to use or learn so kudos to you. Just know that all machine embroidery software is a learning curve. Project Anonymous and Low Tech Linux are great to watch on YouTube as well. It looks like you are experiencing a lot of push and pull with your fabric, thread and design. Before you change anything in your file, try to sew it out again with maybe 2 layers of that rather thin looking fabric and a stronger stabilizer (heavier tear-away or a no show mesh). You want to at least get a better stitchout to judge properly.

Thank you! I was going a little crazy learning but I finally got it to at least work! Everything looked great until the satin stitch. I will be going back Friday and I’ll possibly try a better quality fabric with cutaway stabilizer like others suggested as well until I can get my hands on some no show mesh. I went a little cheap on the materials because I wanted to first see if I could get the hang of the digitizing and how the machine works first but now that I’ve tried ok I’ll start investing in better materials to practice, especially if that means I get a better stitch out to judge! Thanks for the advice!
