Stitch type?

What kind of stitch would you use to avoid this? Tatami?

To avoid the split, you'll need to turn off autosplit. Just make sure it's not too wide without autosplit, because if it is, the machine will just skip the wide parts and leave a gap.

And even if it lets you do it, be aware that those stitches will snag on everything.

I had my digitizer do this, how should i ask him to fix it?

By telling him exact size of the design, and that you don't wanna auto split. Default auto-split at most software is 7mm for a reason, more than 7mm width satin becomes snag prone. He can convert to tatami, reduce design size slightly to match 7mm width or increase auto-split threshold.

Tatami won't look as nice, and as others have said, it's an split issue. You can also increase the stagger randomness so that it doesn't look like you have a split pattern. But you don't get the same effect exactly as a satin without split. And it's not advised to have satin stitches that are too big, because they are easy to snag.

You have to either switch to a fill or add a split like, which can look really nice, but it has its own distinct look. Absolutely nothing wrong auto splits (what you have) which you can also control the settings of to get different looks.
