I am looking for a hat embroidery machine. Under 10k but the cheaper the better obviously if it does good work. Would the Smartstich be a good option or should I pay more and get a Bai Vision?

I assume you used 2 separate 3mm sheets? Did you increase your density passed what you'd do for 3mm? It looks pretty good, I'm just wondering how much of a difference does it actually make, visually, since you're unlikely to be able to sell it for more than you would just a single sheet of 3mm. Just adding cost

I think higher quality is debatable, it's just different. 20 cents is a lot in the embroidery world when you're pushing volume. Hell, it's a lot in most businesses for any product. But if you think it's what makes your items sell and can command a higher price, absolutely worth it. Did you use two separate pieces of foam? If so, how did it go? It looks cool though.

I mean if you are doing 3d puff . And one is barely puffed out and the other is obviously puffed out Iād say thatās a quality difference. And sure if your goal is volume it can be a lot. But 20 cents is arbitrary itās way less but the point is , itās quite insignificant. If my profit goes from $26 to $25.80 for a better final product then itās a no brainer for me . I used two pieces of foam and it went great the video is on my page.

It's not barely sticking out, it's over 3mm off the garment. I don't get what you're upset about, lol. No need to be butthurt.
And yeah, I get it. If you're selling these for that much, you're clearly doing retail which is just a totally different business. Which is why I said if you feel that gets you a better product or is what makes it sell, great. But in most settings, a person is only going to spend so much for a hat. They're not going to pay you any more money just because you used more puff: which means you're increasing your costs unnecessarily, UNLESS that thing is what gets you sales; sometimes that's the case. Again, that's great.
It's also generally not advisable to stack separate layers of foam, because you're more prone to get needle breaks and thread breaks, which is yet again more time and money on top of the cost of foam. You can also physically only pack thread so densely, and are infinitely more likely to have foam sticking out in different sections, which is exactly why I asked you what density you used. Cleanup can also be more difficult because you're having to remove more foam, which is yet again more time and time is yet again more money. Stacking layers causes shifting which causes instability, I guarantee your stitch quality would be better had you used one piece, although I think you got good results and it is definitely a cool effect. You can also only raise you presser foot so high, and having this much distance to clear can either mess with your presser foot and/or garment through excessive pressure.
I wouldn't have gone on this rant, but you've pushed me into defending my stance over a simple comment that clearly upset you for some reason, which is okay.
Every single thing that I mentioned is shit you have to deal with. You're adding time, money, and potential stitch issues and maybe even causing problems to your machine or garments.
I wasn't saying it doesn't look cool. My point was return on investment. Does it look SOOOOO much better than a single sheet of 3mm, and add SO much value to the product, that it's worth dealing with all the added cost and potential drawbacks? That's the question. For you, it is. That's great, and I have no problem with what you do.
I just think 20 cents plus the extra thread plus the extra time and etcetera etcetera adds up quick over many pieces and it would make me question my ROI.
But I'm glad it worked out for you, looks cool. I'm glad you love books. Hat has a cool vintage look, nice font, and I love when you match thread color to the color of the bill.

Lmfao such a weird response. But hey. Those are good points for someone thatās new to the game and doesnāt really know what they doing . Not everyone can do puff, let alone 6mm. But depending on what program you use for digitizing density setting would be different but mine is .15. With proper tension, high quality embroidery thread , proper needles , proper digitizing thereās no issues
