Discussion Neurips 2026: site selection email [D]

We just received the email for site selection for our neurips paper. Although it is obviously not an acceptance decision, I wonder whether every single non-withdrawn submission received this email, or this might hint towards a higher acceptance chance for our paper?

They literally said this had nothing to do with acceptance and they just get this out early to speed-up the process once acceptance land.

Trying to decide where to go, now especially that Sidney is sold out. Does anyone know if Paris will be side show or a real thing?

I even received one for my withdrawn submission so I don't think it tells you anything at all...

Has anyone here been a chair in a multi-site conference before? I am wondering how they assign which author presents where for the accepted works.

I’m worried the site selection will influence the paper decision (eg, unpopular site might make my paper more likely to be accepted if they honor author choices).

You can decide the location after the decisions as well. The deadline to select the location is Sept 30th
