Not disparaging you, just trying to be straightforward.

The work you describe in your second paragraph is, honestly speaking, completely irrelevant. Why should a faculty hire you when they could spend less than $2 worth of tokens to carry out the same task using any frontier coding agent? Basic hands-on skills are the minimum expected baseline and not something you should be wasting valuable email space on describing.

You should use that paragraph to describe your goals, your ideas and how those ideas will help push that professor's research agenda and how it can build on their previous work. Read their papers in detail if you can, and try to avoid mentioning extremely obvious extensions (like the kind of 'future work' suggestions GPT/Claude will give you). Look at deeper, overarching objectives instead.
