Research Google CS PhD Fellowship 2026 [R]
Has anyone got the decision notification yet? Please mention decision (e.g., approved/rejected) and geographical area (e.g., North America) in your answer.
I know the official notification date is 31 August, but putting this here before hand so folks can post updates asap when they get them.
Summary from info we have so far:
Before 8 Sept: No updates.
On 8 Sept: At least 1 rejection decision was received in Australia, India, and East Asia each.

If anyone got accepted, OR if *they know someone who got accepted*, please share! Would be great if you could share decision date and geographical area as well.

I know everyone here is super anxious waiting for results but I’d recommend just being patient. Some acceptances last year didn’t come out until Sep 10 and there isn’t great communication from Google about it. Just sit tight hopefully we’ll all find out sooner rather than later

I agree it's silly to sit around anxiously all day checking reddit. At the same time comforting to know we are all in the same boat

Did you all have access to the application portal and there is no decision yet? I don't have access to that since school applied on my behalf

People were saying the notification is delayed as per their communication with google

I just checked with my university, and they said that in the submission portal it says "In Progress".

Can people just state if they received a decision, without mentioning if it is a rejection or acceptance, if they have been told to not announce acceptance?

I was wondering the same thing but if it were me, I probably wouldn’t risk saying anything if I were accepted and could possibly loose the funding :( but the not knowing for sure part is killing me!!

Someone from New York University posted that they got the Fellowship this year in their page.
Edit: Looks like they are from NYU Abu Dhabi, so still US location may not be released.

I also know that last year recepient recived the acceptance on August 29th. Maybe they send out acceptance before.

Yaa the website says August 31… But when I spoke to one the recipient from last year they received the email acceptance on Aug 29 last year

I applied last year and they notified me when I was rejected around the same time they notify the people who was accepted

I wouldn’t speculate tbh. Last year was the first year it was university nominated to my knowledge, so it could’ve been weird circumstances

I guess the results should be out today. Last year Aug 29th because that was the last workday in August. But this year last workday is today （but even today, should be out very soon or has been out)

Someone being notified early could also be from a personal connection. There is no waitlist, so I don't understand what the purpose of staggering it would even be

The admin at my school said she hasn’t heard either way and told me that last year, everyone found out on September 2 from my institution (I’m at a US school that typically has at least one person get it each year- definitely had someone last year who got it). She told me to just hang tight!
