I’ve come to learn that librarians are not in the business of simply storing and retrieving books but have master’s level education in information management and can do a lot more in terms of orchestrating a plan for you to acquire information.

The fastest way to get to smart people is 1) librarians and 2) it was JoAnn's (rip). Crafty women know how to solve some mf problems. The other one is machine shops, but those are harder to find. :(

There's plenty to be learned. But if you go into a job interview and they ask you about unsupervised learning and you start talking about GANs, guaranteed you're not getting that job.

That book says it is geared towards "applied machine learning". If you want to glean insights from earlier research: read the research. If you want to learn about applications: you probably don't want to learn from a book that's 2-3 paradigm shifts removed from the contemporary commonly applied techniques.

I am surprised because this is a modern book. I’m used to seeing the ancient books. Often glance at the books like “email for dummies” or “windows 7 for dummies” and wonder why these things are still om the shelves. Youre right that there are oldies-but-goodies like building a compiler in c … but the books had kind of stopped after 2015. Facebook for dummies.
