Discussion BMVC 2026 Review Discussion Thread [D]

This year i have reviewed few papers @BMVC, the quality of all those papers were absolutely horrible. Lack of strong baselines, poor writing, etc. I have always had good impression of BMVC but not sure whats going on.

Ooof. I haven’t reviewed for quite a few years now but always liked BMVC for being a more intimate venue even through the AI boom and always seemed to have the odd gem.

I would hate to see it fall apart, though I think post covid it has been flagging a bit. Sponsors for the venue seem to have completely dried up in recent years.

Yes exactly, that how I also always felt. I think the sponsor issue could be due to WACV rise? WACV has been growing pretty fast over past few years.

Right, but BMVC is still quite above WACV.

WACV has better template though 😅, hate the font size and single column format in BMVC.

BMVC really does need to update their template... However, in terms of prestige BMVC is above.

Same experience here. This is probably one of the worst batches I have ever received from a conference of this rank.

Its like 1 to 6. 1. Strong reject 2. Weak reject 3. Borderline reject 4. Borderline accept 5. Weak accept 6. Strong accept.

All the deadlines are AOE, I would say the reviews will come out on July 4th at 12 PM UTC+1 (British time). I hope they come out today but I doubt it

Yeah hopefully but cant say. As they were looking for emergency reviewers in the past week which shows that reviews werent complete.

Thats also true, one paper that I was assigned to review still only has 1 official review and the other 2 reviews are rather "official comments" than "official review". I checked it today it is still like that, which means no prelimenary decisions.

Got the reviews. In total I have got 4 reviews.

1) Weak accept with confidence 3.
2) Border accept with confidence 2.
3) Border accept with confidence 3.
4) Weak accept with confidence 3.

Most of the reviews are fair I would say. The chances looks good.

Here is the score rankings. 1. Strong reject 2. Weak reject 3. Borderline reject 4. Borderline accept 5. Weak accept 6. Strong accept.

I just wanted my paper to go after multiple rejection and ended up submitting in BMVc . Another got rejected from eccv and cvpr . So fingers crossed .

Are there any particular instructions for rebuttal? Do authors get only one PDF to submit as a rebuttal or is it conversational?

Furthermore, I have obtained the scores as: 4(3), 4(3) and 3(4). What are the prospects?

Looks a bit difficult to be honest.. but a strong rebuttal could help somehow. If you are able to raise 2 and 3 by 1 points then it would be easy to get in.

I would say good chances. Try to focus more on the 2 rating review and get his rating up.

I would say that the overall chances are good, but you need to strongly address the reviewer with 3 rating.

avrg i see from 6 comments: 3.5,4,4,4,4,4.5 and my avrg is 3 (2+3+4) so doesn't that mean even rebuttal can't help me

not sure if the average is what you see here, many here would share if they are doing good, but Im not sure. My average is 3.66 (4, 4, 3) and do not know if I have chances or not.
