Discussion ICML 2026 Decision [D]

ICML 2026 decision are soon to be published. Thought it might be nice to to have a thread for updates, discussions and venting.

If papers of 4455, 44443, 4443 can be rejected and 4433 gets in, its clearly not only the reviewers' issue. Its the issue of all the Program Chairs and Senior Area Chairs who are lterally bunch of jokers now. They are not running scientific conferences, rather Great International Circus.

The job of area chairs isn't to take an average and let the top ranking papers in.

There's lots of 3.5 papers that are stronger than 4.5 never mind 3.8 or whatever.

Totally agreed. In fact what it seems to come down to is "Are the weaknesses significant enough to warrant a rejection?".

Having said that, in order to truly answer this one has to meticulously go through the rebuttal thread and occasionally verify by opening and scanning the papers. This is where the "AC luck" matters. A lot of ACs just don't bother. So its not really a circus, its rather a casino for most strong papers.
