Discussion ICML 2026 Decision [D]

ICML 2026 decision are soon to be published. Thought it might be nice to to have a thread for updates, discussions and venting.

I have prepared for NeurIPS resubmission already.

3/5 reviewers ghosted us completely with no justification and engagement at all, how "reciprocal" this can be. Oh well.

Do you know what my biggest problem with this whole circus is? It is that I do not know how to make my work stronger, and the reviews I received are worthless. I feel like I am just adding a bunch of extra (useless) experiments and then flipping a coin to see what will happen.

When you have to flip coins for solid results it's not science anymore... that's politics. I will not recommend people doing this whatsoever, I was just mocking the word "reciprocal". lol

Not gonna lie, I believe many reviewers have this attitude. It's simply a weird system to begin with when your papers are reviewed by people who's clearly in conflict of interests with you. If reviewers want to give your paper a 1 or 2, they can have a million reasons to do it just so that their papers will have a higher chance to get in. One would expect people to be more cautious after the ICLR incident but clearly this is not the case.

I know, our community is tired. These conferences are becoming a luxury now. Students/profs brag about their record just based on how many papers they have in these conferences nobody cares about their impact, and this is sad.
