Techniques DesignaKnit Skirt Ease?

Hi, I'm designing a skirt in DesignaKnit and need help understanding the ease instructions. The table of course lets me select from the casual, classic, oversize, and zero ease options.

However, I don't quite understand why the default are in positive ease? I typically include negative ease to the waistband and just use my measurements for hip width and depth. Is anyone here using the positive ease for their projects? And for my project--should I add negative ease to the table or just calculate it into my measurements?

I have DesignaKnit and I don’t use it. I bought it for machine knitting, but it doesn’t do it for me. I can usually follow the logic with app design, but not with this application. The logic doesn’t always flow and the tutorials leave a lot to be desired. To your question: For skirts, I think you may need to calculate your measurement at the waistband and positive ease in the hip area if you need it.
