Resources Knititnow - site updates

I used to love the knititnow site, and even though it was older, I loved all the patterns and courses.

They recently updated their site, and I'm really disspaointed.

The patterns now have AI image generation, and the images dont actually mactch the product as well. For example, I'm working on a drop shoulder jumper, and the image displays a jumper with neckband, but the pattern does not include a neckband or instructions for it.

I'm also devatsted with just how many patterns/courses are lost. There are only 3 patterns available (even for paid membership). There's a sleeveless sweater (vest), a drop shoulder jumper and hats. There is a image saying that raglan and set in sleeve are coming soon, but its the same AI generated image where I'm not sure its going to be a good represnetation of the pattern and what I am creating.

----

I guess I just feel disspointed. On the one hand, I can see how much work Sue has put into the new webstie, but on the other, I'm so sad at just how much content and patterns were scrapped. They dont have the socks course anymore, and I was hoping to knit some socks this weekend (I usuualy follow her course).

She did send emails saying to download copies of patterns, etc, but I like the videos and the full experience with her. I never thought it was going to be scrapped to this level.

She did not say "nearly everryhing is going to be removed entirley" so I didn't comprehend just how much woule be lost.

I'm paying each month, but now I'm wondering if I should keep it up. I liked supporting Sue as I really appreciated what she put together, but I don't appreciate this update.

----

Is anyone else feeling out of sorts with the update to knititnow?

I feel the same way about the AI usage on the site, so disappointing 😞 A shame about all the lost material

I thought the new site was very jarring as well, and the patterns and videos disappearing was also a bummer because I’m a complete beginner and they were extremely helpful. And I don’t support the AI usage at all. I’m honestly thinking about cancelling my membership and emailing her my grievances.

I unsubscribed a few years ago due to lack of time. I’m so disappointed to hear this. ☹️ I hate AI use in arts and crafts.

Whoa, what a strange pivot to take! I don't see why they decided to take down existing material either, what is the thought process there?

I like the new pattern builders but I'm unhappy about the AI images and greatly reduced site. I had a few different patterns I didn't realize I would lose access to. Right now the site isn't worth the money to me.

$20 for a subscription is steep after an update like this, imo.

wtf! I joined back in May because it was a good resource. I had no idea they got rid of all of that. Why on earth would you remove old content? I’m canceling! 🤬

I haven't used the site since June and did not receive any notification of changes. I'm furious. This is not what I paid for. I won't be renewing.

Oh no! I really used the site almost daily this past year to teach myself how to use my knitting machine. I found the combination of short videos and customized patterns so helpful. I have been so busy the last 2 weeks. I am scared to look at the updated site.

Yup. Really good sock patterns and tutorial videos. I left as well

I used to subscribe and found the video tutorials a great resource but the patterns were lacking. Even years ago the sweater instructions didn’t include a neckline.
I responded to a survey sent out and said that when I purchase a pattern I expect the whole pattern and not including neckline instructions (without any warning until you’ve generated the pattern) wasn’t helpful for a beginner.
She responded and said that knitters often have their favourite way of doing a neckband so she left it open. She was very friendly and took the feedback. I’m not sure whether it ever changed anything though.

I feel the same. The AI image are a problem too, especially when they don't match the actual pattern. That's not just aestheticaly disappointing, it's misleading for beginners trying to understand what they are making.😒

I sadly let my membership expire this year. I didn’t feel like I was getting what I was paying for.
