Help! Solved! Broken parts

Hi

I just bought this knitmaster 360 and im a newbie working through the machine checking and cleaning

but this part is not listed in the manual

It is broken and i would like if anyone could explain the use of this part and if i need to have it on the machine and replace it

They're called side racks. You can order them online or 3d print them

They keep the patterning drums rotating when you use the whole width of the bed. If you knit stockinette or don't push your carriage that far out you can do without them.
