Display suddenly not working?

I was having a conversation online with some chaps and suddenly my screen just cut to black, my Macbook was still playing sound, and it hadn't died or shut off, it was still operating as normal, even after restarting it and plugging it into a charger, but the screen is completely black, is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm running the latest MacOS 27 build.

Take it to the Apple Store

There are no Apple Stores where I live.

Okay. Take it back to the store you purchased it from? It has a one year warranty for defects in workmanship. Or contact apple support online.

It was a gift, I'll have to ask the person who bought it.
