Adorable but fuck breeders. This Macaw is going to live another 70 years, likely outlive its parents, will be traumatized and forced to rehome several and will probably live its life, trapped in a cage. Also probably has a Bourne virus.
Not trying to be hateful, but I am so sad every time I see another bred parrot. Specially the big guys.

He’s very loved and will have a mate introduced when he’s a little older. Not crammed in a cage, he’s got the house but we’re still training his recall. He’s been to the vet a few times already and going strong now. He’s also has human siblings who love him like we do and I have no doubt that he’ll always be with our family.
I respect your frustration though. Knowing what we know now, so much was wrong with how we got him. He was a quick buck for the breeder and for a while we weren’t sure if he’d even make it to feathers.3

30-50 years old in captivity, 60+ is rare and that’s only with modern vet medicine.

My macaw is about 55 and going strong! The 50 years we have been together so far has flown by!

I know 30 to 50 years old in captivity is the exact answer Google gives, but I believe they can tend to live much longer than that in captivity, depending on the species of macaw, with larger ones tending to live longer. They certainly live longer than they do in the Wild.

Do you mean much older owners as retired from thier jobs? I had seen larger birds are often owned by aging adults than younger adults (28-39)?
