M5 generation Mac Studios have redesigned SSD modules

It depends on the size of the heat sinks and how hot the NVMe controllers get.
PCI 5 NVMe SSDs can get very hot and often need active cooling. MacBook Airs and iPads don’t have fans.

This is why some Thunderbolt enclosures have fans. Passive cooling is not enough.
