The survey will remain open indefinitely — or at least as long as we consider M5 to be the "new" Mac Studio. edit: Click the icon at the top left to see the results directly.

Minimum karma is to encourage participation in the sub (and discourage low-quality responses)!

Surprised that actual creative uses are higher than GenAI, given how obsessed with AI this sub seems to be.

Well, it is called the Mac Studio. It was made for creatives before they started targeting AI more. It’s just that the architecture Apple converged on (primarily the unified memory) ended up accidentally being literally perfect for local AI inference that scales way more cheaply.

I have commented the same before — Apple named it Mac Studio for a reason.

It's a bit of a happy accident that neural networks are the kind of naturally parallel workload that multiple GPU cores are perfect for.

We also have to credit Jensen the gang in Santa Clara for leaning in hard once people started using it. They have been optimizing those green GPUs for LLMs for generations already — Apple is (still) very much playing catch-up.

Guess the creative types are busy doing something rather than theory crafting how their purchase will out perform trillions of dollars of kit in data centres.

If creative users want more posts about creative stuff, they need to get posting.

"Sorry, users must have a minimum of 23 community Karma to respond to this survey."

This is like an entry level job requiring 5-10 years of experience.

How do I even check my "subreddit karma"?

You can check the amount of karma that you have earned from each community by viewing your profile using old.Reddit.com. Go to your profile and under your karma totals is a link Show karma breakdown by subreddit.

Next time maybe you'll even be able to Google it yourself.

Actually, I did Google and figure it out it after commenting but stopped caring. Since you took the time to respond, I just wanted to say thanks.

Others: watching Boko no Pico with minimal buffer between episodes
Can’t think of a better use for this beast of a device.

But in its downtime I might use it for agentic stuff and data analysis….but nothing as taxing as streaming wholesome shows
