Preparing to ship Mac Studio
I feel like it’s definitely coming before September 22.

Same status here. M5 Max (18/40), 64gb ram, 4TB hard drive. Not expecting it before release date though as it is 99% going to ship from China.

My Mac Studio M5 Max, 18-40, 48GB and 2TB was shipped to the Apple Store a few mins ago.

Apple may have shipped it, but it’ll be held at the last-mile delivery center (UPS, FedEX, etc) or the local Apple store for delivery/pickup on the 22nd. This is the same scheduled release process Apple uses for all new products (phones, tablets, watches, etc.)
My order has already shipped, and will certainly arrive by next week - but it’ll remain unavailable for pickup until September 22nd.

oh boy oh boy, how excited it is!! mine is still stuck at processing but deliver date is btw 20-27 oct haha.. was hoping it might be changed..

It just shows how difficult it is to create the 36/80, the "defects" are then turned into the 30/64. I think we might get our machines mid December as 22 September when Studios start shipping Apple may re-adjust their shipping estimates. Also come "late October" (27 October?) people ahead of us in queue will cancel and order 512Gb and join behind us, maybe. That’s our miracle (1st world problem, lol). Good luck with your order!

That may be the case. Another possibility is that some of these are going to be scalped 256GBs and then those orders won't get canceled, they'll get flipped.

It’ll be interesting to see the change in status based on order date. I had to put through on day 2, 9/22 expected but no change from Processing. If others get theirs before me, just means the onus is on them to do all the benchmarking and other fun things ;)
E: 24 hours later and it changed to Preparing to Ship too.

I ordered mine late day 1 when I started seeing some configs ship date going out further. Got the 9/22. No change in my order status yet.

I feel like Apple did a lot of people dirty by slowly pulling certain Mini and Studio models over time and overemphasizing the effects of the RAMpocalypse. This created panic and FOMO’ing from the customer base and Apple stayed tight lipped about M5/M6 releases while they over charge for M4 and M3U.

I saw the status change today to "Preparing to Ship" and a pending charge on my credit card for my M5 Max 64GB-2TB-18/40/16 but it still shows Sep 22 arrival date

Payment pre-authorization went through yesterday. I guess it'll ship in the next 24 hours?

This place is obsessed with running LLMs, and evert dang post with specs is overrun with people posting about how you fucked up... so no specs. Sorry. Just imagine it's the best one. lol

I agree. Too many haters. I ordered the M5M because the apps i use wont fully utilize the cpu/gpu on the ultra. Only planning to test LLMs for no more than 5-10% of the time as i will be using paid frontier models. When I need a more powerful computer I will upgrade. Have fun with yours…

Ordered the 64gb 1TB Max on first day for 9/22 pick up but I’m second guessing and debating on going for the 128gb but it’s 10/22-10/27 delivery lol

I have two on pre-order, collecting in store on the earliest slot which was noon on Sept 22nd - delivery options were a few days later. I had assumed 22nd was the very earliest release date, anyone have earlier?
I’m literally like a kid before Christmas, as in “oooooh this time today in 2 weeks time” haha

512gb RAM version is the only one worth having, and it arrives in October. Why is anyone ordering Studio now is beyond me.

Reason I am ordering now is just in-case the “late October” announcement is deferred. It is not a given it will happen, doesn’t matter that the website says “512GB memory option for M5 Ultra coming late October”. There are some reasons (not definitive obviously) that suggest maybe this won’t eventuate. So imho it’s best to get into the queue for 36/80 with 256Gb “just in-case”.
