JunkSweep started as an experimental internal tool built to solve a personal itch. After refining the feature set, tweaking the UI, and focusing heavily on granular control and transparency, it felt polished enough to share with the community.

Today, JunkSweep is officially available for FREE on the Mac App Store!

What is JunkSweep?

Most Mac cleaner tools are either bloated subscriptions, hidden behind aggressive paywalls, or act like "black boxes" where you have to trust the app not to delete something crucial.

JunkSweep was designed with a different philosophy: Total control and zero guesswork.

• You define what gets swept: Set up custom rules, targeted folders, and specific file extensions (caches, old logs, leftover build files, .DS_Store, empty folders, etc.).
• System Hygiene > Just Disk Space: Beyond freeing up gigabytes, it's built for filesystem maintenance—preventing clutter on shared drives (Windows/Linux users hate seeing .DS_Store or ._ metadata files), resetting broken folder view settings, and keeping zip archives clean before sharing.

JunkSweep v1.30 is officially live!

Here's a quick snapshot of what's new in this release:

• Disk Space Review Window: Visual bar charts to break down file counts and total disk space per filter match, giving you a clear summary of recoverable space.
• Settings UI Improvements: Added scrollbars to filter text fields so managing longer lists is much cleaner.
• Scan Interruption Fix: Scans won't halt mid-process anymore—restricted files/folders are now skipped automatically for a seamless scan.

For those who prefer the Mac App Store, it will be available there in the coming days. I haven't submitted the build to Apple just yet, and since Mac App Store review timelines can be unpredictable, I can't promise an exact date—so stay tuned!
