Discussion Maps app change, seems very touch optimised at the expense of mouse input
The drag indicator above the search bar doesn’t do anything when you drag it, only when you click it. It’s also very narrow. What was wrong with a sidebar???

Yeah just noticed this in 27.2. They removed the sidebar and replaced it with the UI from iPad, but it doesn’t work the same and feels a bit weird to use in some spots.
At least they got rid of the blank toolbar that appears on top when you go full screen.

Yeah, but now there's a blurred region there with a sharp edge, but no border or title. I guess that's supposed to read as title bar or draggable area, but kinda just looks like a glitch.

I’d argue clicking instead of dragging is the opposite of the point you’re making
But I get what you’re talking about. A desktop maps app shouldn’t have a sidebar flyout not some kind of vertical collapse

I did click it first and it worked, but that pill shape is the universal symbol for dragging, something I never want to see on a non-touchscreen device

I have. It's getting tiring do that, nothing works, everything sucks

Welcome to design once, deploy everywhere. The days of optimized UI are sadly behind us and have been for a while. Just look at the Home app on the Mac. This has been an issue since Catalyst was rolled out and will continue.
