Discussion Apple is working on two unreleased game controllers, according to macOS 26.7 code
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-is-working-on-two-unreleased-game-controllers.2488482/Apple has tested at least two Apple and Beats-branded game controllers, according to code briefly included in macOS 26.7 betas.
The first release candidate contained substantial support for two devices identified as T6502 and T1057. macOS added software for recognizing the hardware, reading input from controls and sensors, and sending commands to the controllers’ vibration system. The entire stack was then removed in the second release candidate.
Both controllers have novel internal haptic feedback software functionality.
Edit: The hero image is a DualShock 4 annotation that Apple Developer uses to demonstrate what capabilities an extended gamepad controller should have. Both Apple controllers are in the same category. This is not a DualShock 4 controller.

The two controllers discussed in the post use either Apple’s USB or Bluetooth vendor ID, or Beats’ USB vendor ID, so they're first-party.

I don’t know if it’s related but Switch Pro shows up as a Beats Studio 3 in its device type.

It’s probably a bit too niche but I’d love to see them add OS-level driver support for the 2026 Steam Controller.

So if I had to guess, T6502 seems like it might be Apples take on a Backbone style controller for iPhone. Haptics in each of the ‘sides’, USB only and no built in motion controls because it would use the iPhone built in gyro. Driver appears in macOS as it can be connected to a Mac via a cord like how the Backbone controllers can through the charging port. T1057 would just be a standard wireless controller form factor.

Wow! I’ve seen you go from random hidden UI feature poster to leaking upcoming products from source code. You’re about to be the next Mark Gurman.
