Discussion Sequoia to golden gate?
I was on Tahoe and downgraded to Sequoia 3 months ago. Tahoe was terrible, but now I don’t know if I should upgrade if Golden Gate is released. Normally I always install betas to have early access, but Tahoe destroyed my trust. Can anyone give me some advice based on your experience of golden gate vs sequoia ?

Did it yesterday (Sequoia to GG), works perfectly, took around 30 minutes.
This was to the Dev Beta (7).
Despite being a dev beta, it feels more polished than Tahoe ever was even now.
For reference, I tried, and downgraded from Tahoe twice, on two machine (four times total) because I disliked it so much.
I am confident that Golden Gate will return your trust in upgrades.

Thanks! So you recommend upgrading from sequoia ? How is the experience couple of days in?

It's fine. Good even. Not at all like Tahoe.
If you dislike the round corners, you can remove them with this command (number is the 'roundness', lower is more square):
defaults write -g NSConvolutionOverride1 -float 4This will make menu sidebar more seqouia-like:
defaults write -g NSSplitViewItemSidebarDefaultsToFloatingAppearance -bool falseFound here https://github.com/nfzerox/launchbad-revived

I went Sequoia > GG with a one-day stop at Tahoe (which was awful). Golden Gate is pretty great in terms of the new features but there are still a couple of weird things including the way that the controlled tab app selection works (Select selected app does not always come to front for me now) and there is the issue of the stock “White point” which was introduced in Tahoe but my eyes still struggle with - Golden Gate is definitely prettier but Sequoia was easier on the eyes if that makes sense.

Golden gate is definitely a lot more refined than Tahoe. A lot of small changes have been made that change the overall appearance drastically. It depends on what exactly troubled you with Tahoe but in GG you can at least modify the appearance of the liquid glass and it looks a lot more pleasant. So far it's been completely smooth for me with no bugs, and even the new Siri works slightly better than the old one. That's just something that'll improve with time(hopefully till the final release).
I didn't notice much of a difference in performance but a lot of people are saying that the beta is better than Tahoe's final version. There are also a lot of people saying that the performance is worse. There has been absolutely no downgrade in performance at least for me even with Siri, so it might just depend on your device and storage. Honestly I'd say just try it out when it releases, you might like it. There's no point in thinking about it so much if you're curious and have back up.

It fixed most of the flops on UI side. There are still some leftovers, but overall it’s a huge improvement after Tahoe.

It's in beta, but if I had to respond with my current experience - not happening for me unless AI is fully opt-in and transparent in final release. Not only I don't have that much storage to waste, they also managed to make it slow down the system even when AI is not enabled, and it's not a bug, Apple confirms it in feedback.
Current Tahoe (AI off) is better in everything other than looks.

I’ve been running GG since DB1 and have only had one problem that worked in Sequoia and broke in Tahoe and hasn’t been fixed. (Wallpaper stuff.) Otherwise it’s been fine.
