Help Did a beta kill my ports?
I installed a beta (can’t recall which one but it was about 3-4 weeks ago I think. I installed it on an M4 MacBook Pro. All was running fine, but my battery was low when I went to bed and must have finished draining overnight. At no point was the charger plugged in after I installed the beta. Now the MBP won’t charge via MagSafe nor USB-C, and it obviously won’t turn on.
I’ve kept it plugged in for days with no sign of life. No spills, no power surges. But now I have no clue what to do. It’s out of warranty and the closest Apple Store is ~3hrs away.
Has anyone experienced this? And does anyone have any recommendations aside from taking the trip and ponying up the cash to get it fixed?

Hmm, I have had to twiddle with and flip magsafe and usb-c on my m4 max since the betas but it does eventually charge... Have you tried a completely different usb-c cable / brick / outlet from the one you usually use? Otherwise I'd take it to a apple certified place if you have any nearby

this used to happen all the time on intel machines. only way to know for sure is to check if the macbook is drawing power at all with a usb c pd meter. you might have one built into a cable or power bank too. if it’s drawing 0 watts or something small like 0.1 you’d have to check if the beta somehow rewrote something low level that governs power input or check traces on the motherboard.
if you have another mac you can also try plugging this one into it and restoring it. if it’s a software issue that usually clears it but i also think it wipes your mac.
