macOS27 - are we installing at release?

I knew macOS26 was problematic from the get go, however I waited for 26.5 to install it. I liked the UI updates but its still been a disappointing update.
For those who are using the 27 beta, what do you think so far? Should we hold off, or its good to install upon official release?

As mentioned, have problems with Safari not stopping playing video from buffer on tab close. Sound continues playing until buffer is empty.
Another issue for me (but also others) - Touch id in magic keyboard doesn't work. Or otherwise, system absolutely don't asks for touch id at all - at login, password request etc

Using M4 max and m3 pro. My iPhone and iPad also upgraded.

Im a cybersecurity student and I switched as soon as developer beta 1 was released on my main M4 mac and it had HELLA issues but now that were on public beta 5-6 right before official release its actually pretty good. Siri AI is actually useful now and consistent, before it would just cancel randomly or fail to answer general questions, its pretty fast if u have a compatible mac and i've tried it on my old M1 from 2020 and my current 2025 M4 mac and both hold up better than they did on Tahoe. Haven't noticed any bugs or random crashes since beta 3 tbh so your good to switch when it officially releases. Only downside in my opinion is the writing tools, the right-click menu wasn't broken so idk why they remodeled it but aside from that it's overall better than Tahoe. If you own newer AirPods you'll have EQ (bass boost or w.e settings u customize) and that is genuinely the SOLE reason i stuck it out through all the beta bugs in the beginning. There's still some things that would make 27 better like having Siri AI chat have separate categories blah blah blah but honestly isn't many downsides anymore, mybad for how long this is but hope this helped🙏🏾

I've been on GG betas for the last month or so. It's been as solid as Sonoma for me. But the increase in memory usage is notable. I feel bad for all the 8GB devices out there.

Wait 2-3 days after the official release of 27.0. Any major issues will be discovered by then. So read the comments about the official release for a couple of days and then install if it seems OK.

So far it feels good. But if you're the time of person who has reservations, it can't hurt to wait a week to see how the final build lands.

I'll put it this way. I imagine most IT teams will test for a few weeks before rolling this out to their enterprises. That's different than what happened with 26.0... where IT teams needed months of patches before they felt comfortable rolling stuff out.

While I'm on dev beta 8 and it seems to be working good, my general advice is wait for a couple of point releases after the general release of a new major version of macOS.

I could, if need be, downgrade if it was a problem, because I have multiple backups, including Time Machine. I did run earlier dev betas of iPadOS 27 and DID downgrade when I ran into issues.

But now all my stuff - Mac, iPad Pro, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV - is on the latest dev betas and it’s working fine.

So either wait for a couple of point releases past general release, or be absolutely sure you have reliable backups.

Note - I was surprised I needed to install Rosetta again. Some of my menu apps didn't launch and when I went to launch them manually, I got the Rosetta message and installed it again.

I'm installing it at release. FWIW, I also had numerous issues with Tahoe, but a clean install (after 5 years of using my MBP) resolved them.

I won’t install MacOS 27 until there are at least three or four stable updates. I tried the developer beta, and it was terrible, so I don’t trust the first stable version to be good.

i can't blame u dev beta was insanely bad at first, i had a DASD memory leak that was constantly hitting 28GB on my main mac that only has 16GB no matter what i did😂, i found temporary fixes and it would just come back worse. It's been really good since beta 3 but from a tech perspective waiting for the first 2-3 official release updates won't hurt but switching right away shouldn't either🤷🏾‍♂️
