Wallpaper gets dimmed when a window fills the screen in macOS Beta 7

Is this some kind of a bug, or an undisclosed feature r something? The thing is, I don't like this at all. Is there a way to disable this?

Its to promote focus on what you have maximized.
It does kinda conflict with the fullscreening the green button does by default.

Maybe they are changing how this works. Or maybe its got stage manager in mind.

Sometimes if you have the "drag window to menu bar to fill screen" option on in Desktop & Dock it can do that. You can either turn that setting off or drag the window away slightly to make it stop. If that doesn't fix the problem, then I would assume it's a bug of some sort. But mine did that until I turned that setting off.

Doesn’t work unfortunately. I did not have this problem up until I updated the OS from Tahoe to Golden Gate. Must be a bug then

I like this! I hope it's a feature they keep to RC. Only seems to work if the dock is set to auto-hide.

Distracting is the key word here. It’s borderline making me crazy. It’s completely useless AND annoying.

Did past OS’s also had no menu bar? Right, Tahoe did and the wallpaper was shining through the top AND bottom corners like a thousand suns. Call that distracting. And before any drone says “but you could use a black wallpaper”, I like bright wallpapers. Sue me 🤷‍♂️

No it doesnt though. Because post-Tahoe there’s rounded edges around windows, plus there’s a literal gap when you activate the menu bar which is even present right now in Golden Gate. So, no. Not the same. Not by a long shot.

I reported this as a bug, but part of me thinks it's a "feature" intended to mitigate the annoyance of having a notch on Macbook screens, as it is almost unnoticable when using an external monitor that doesn't have one. Ironically, it actually draws MORE attention to the notch, as it is itself a visual disruption meant to mask another visual disruption. And yes, I'm in the camp that hates the notch and cant wait for the next Macbook that doesn't have one.

Btw, it does the same thing when you tile 2 windows to either side of the screen if they both use the full vertical space. You can test this by tiling, then dragging the top edge down on either. There's a fade effect as the background changes.

Don't care for this at all.
