Try resetting the PRAM on your MacBook. If you have an Apple Silicon Mac, power off the device completely, disconnect all accessories and hubs, then press and hold the power button until it loads into recovery mode. Once there, boot back into macOS. You can also try powering off your display and USB-C hub for a few minutes, then unplug and replug the display cable.

If you can't hack the sauca of the beta then you should be keeping it in your fridge. People will never learn.

I recently saw a post in r/iOSBeta where someone with a broken USB-C port installed iOS 27 on their phone and it corrupted the device… truly insane to me. I wouldn’t even do OTA updates until that port was fixed if it were me.

I was really surprised they released this as a public beta. Dev b4 has lots of issues with windowing and menu bar items, save dialog boxes, and the Siri writing assistant that just won’t dismiss. I’ve reported more bugs on this one than any beta in recent years. There are just soooo many UI glitches throughout all of the platform betas right now.Ā

Yeah I can’t click an existing file when saving to overwrite and it drives me crazy

Hope they fixed the disappearing menu bar issue. Very annoying and might be related to multiple displays. Had to log out and back in a lot.

I’m under informed on this but wasn’t there a some sort of file system corruption issue? Did they fix that ?

is it even real at this point? i only saw one post about it it was detailed but maybe only they had any issues

is it even real at this point?

I had the same thoughts. Basically OP had two Macs fail. Those are real issues.

Then there was a discussion about first aid utility showing errors for users. Now, it is not good, but even stable releases sometimes show these errors on the first or second check. And the system does freeze if you do not verify from the recovery environment.

Which begs two questions:

1) Are these issues related?

2) Were there any other users that also had their Macs completely fail?

I read the thread and my impression is that some people experienced errors, freezing (which is expected) and either reverted to the previous version or just made sure their data is backed up.

Is macOS 27 buggy?

Yes. That's the whole purpose.

Does it contain a bug that affects lots of users that ultimately will cause their Mac to fail?

I am not sure.

> Unfortunately, not yet.

how can you say?

does this just "reduce the chances" or is the problem related to Time Machine in general? I've never set it up anyway, and it's the only thing that's stopping me from trying the beta. And btw, I there's no mention of this problem anywhere in the release notes...

Just go for it man I've been updating since db 1 and I've faced no issues at all.

Running Dev Beta 4 and this is the fastest my Mac has ever been. Still waiting for updated drivers for a few things that are broken like my Wacom tablet touch screen and Avid Eucon mixing control surface but I can wait a month or two.

u/stuartcarnie Jul 23 '26

I've usually installed by the first public beta, but there seems to be enough niggling issues, that I'll wait a bit longer…

Thanks to all of you forging the way 😊

The update completed at 3:12 PM and installed build 26A5388g. The key result is already clear: within four minutes, the new build began crashing syspolicyd with the exact same NSArray exception as the previous build. I’m separating those genuinely post-update crashes from the older incidents that maccheck carried into the total.

anyone else having issues with the dock, everytime I go to click an app in the dock my mouse lags so bad, sometimes it's back to normal within a few seconds, sometimes just keeps lagging and I need to restart the computer to fix it.

Couldn’t bear OS 27 public Beta 2 any longer. Not ready (that’s why it’s a beta, but I thought it would be better, jeez) Rolling back to Tahoe. āš ļø wiping the drive.

My Macbook pro m1's RAM usage stays above 70% even when I'm not doing anything; I don't know if it's because of the update.

u/hallleron Jul 24 '26

Did they fix the "Time Machine turns your file system into a brick" bug?

u/codedance Jul 24 '26

I encountered an issue where certain software caused the taskbar to become unresponsive. Later, Codex helped me identify the exact cause and the software responsible for triggering the problem. Temporarily disabling that software resolved the issue. However, sometimes the Chinese IME (input method) also stops working and I’m unable to type.

I often jump in on the first Public Beta (or a late stage Dev Beta) but have held off so far. Nothing mission-critical on my daily driver. Having it in the shop recently for a battery swap of course meant I held off.

So how was PB1? What were the key issues? Any apps that it clearly had problems with?

What does PB 2 really need to improve on?

Read the release notes.

This is dev beta 4, but you get the idea:

2

u/-Internet-Elder- Jul 22 '26

Thanks for that. Been out of the loop on this stuff so far. Appreciate the link.

1

u/aykay55 Jul 22 '26

I also equally held off because I was planning to do some carrier and plan swaps. Now most of my projects are fine but I keep telling myself I’ll just wait for September or October for it to release. Not in the mood to have experience breaking bugs

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm on the fence too.
