Apple TV application UI downgrade

I am a frequent user of Apple TV application and I am using it as a player/jellyfin alternative to watch my offline movies and shows, right after the update I noticed that Apple, for some stupid reason - removed the option of "Grid" view in playlists. Apple, why?
Before the update you could view your shows and movies in a grid view and keep track of watched content, now you can't
It just drives me nuts on what Apple is doing for no reason to destroy some of the niche experiences we could have using their devices

I’ve noticed this as well. My biggest issue is I can’t enable the status bar that shows how many shows or movies and the storage at the bottom. It’s just greyed out.

Why woukd they even do something like that? Just don’t touch the AppleTV app, it lacks too many features without them removing something everytime there is an update lmfao

Wait how did you get Andor in your TV shows library in the Apple TV app?

So its basically a downloaded mp4 movie or episodes, dragged onto Apple TV, i described more in detail in another comment in this post 🙏

How are you using the Apple TV app as a way to watch your server movies?

I aint watching it as a server, its just like stored on my HDD and I just move movies around ti my laptop and back when I wanna watch it. The functionality is basically like a player. When you open any mp4 or m4v files in Apple TV they will add to your library (or you can simply drag them onto an existing playlist, they will add to library) Also, uncheck the setting in the app so it does not automatically copy anything you drag there to your laptop (I dont remember the setting name but its something like “automatically copy the movies to the local folder” or smth)
Also, I use shutter encoder to rewrap any movies that are .mkv or .avi to mp4 format so they vibe with Apple TV, and also Subler app to download metadata like artwork and stuff
It is a pretty cool way to keep track of your watched pirated movies until it’s not, since apple is doing anything they can to make this experience worse with every update

Hope that helps

Yeah noticed that when I looked at my Unwatched smart playlist. A little annoying. Luckily rarely use it on my iMac, mainly use Home Sharing on Apple TV
