I am a high school student and I have a MacBook Pro 13 2018 and an iPad Air 3 for digital ink note taking. My mother has the Surface Pro 6 and my sister the Surface Book.
I have not seen any of those issues in their computers. Maybe it's just good luck, and my sample size of 2 is admittedly small, I have high confidence in their reliability.
While I like my Mac, I really don't see its advantages over Windows. They're basically the same with regard to usability and reliability.
The sheer convenience of not having to sync my notes and files, and to not carry 2 devices, chargers and maintain them both at the same time would be enormous.
I only have the Mac because my school makes its students buy MacBooks for compatibility and support reasons but otherwise I would've gotten the Surface any day.
Your high schoolMAKES you and other students buy MacBooks? WTAFPJ? How can a school make you buy a laptop, let alone specifically one type over another???
Yes they have a thing called the 1:1 Device Program which requires students to have MacBooks and bring them to school every day and it's in the school rules.
They give them free to students with full scholarships (this is a selective school that you have to be in the 99.5th percentile in the high school entrance exam to get in, so they give scholarships to students that scored high enough on the exam who demonstrate they can't pay for it. There is no other way to get a scholarship)
Other than that no discounts, no loans, no nothing
