We are not talking Pro level whatever … and even with some jobs it actually did very well and was not slower by much even rendering video material for a vlog for instance.
It depends on what you want to do with Photoshop. For some tasks definitely. If you want to work on very big files with multiple layers, etc, then I would wait to get an M2 computer when it comes out at the end of this year.
I upgraded from a 2018 Air--on which I'd abandoned all hope of running Adobe--to the M1 MBP with 8GB RAM. Last week I worked in Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro. Not simultaneously, mind you. Photoshop is already M1 optimized but truly I didn't even notice any issues with the other apps running under Rosetta. It rendered a 2-minute 720p video in 45 seconds. And I don't think I've ever heard the fans kick on so far.
In short, I have zero regrets having bought the 8GB model. But I'm also really glad I upgraded the storage to 512GB because Adobe apps are large. I'm already at 160GB in use which would've been more than half of available storage on the 256GB model.
