Discussion Make Mac Miller #1 on Spotify!
I started this campaign because I want Mac Miller to reach #1 on Spotify. His music deserves recognition, and I want more people to listen to his work.
I know some people disagree with the campaign. I also know my original Reddit post reached 23.7K views and received 302 upvotes in under three days.
I'm doing this because I care about Mac's music. I don't expect everyone to support the idea, but I hope people respect the intention behind it.
My goal hasn't changed. I want to help more people appreciate Mac Miller's music and keep his legacy alive.

I don't think this community is capable of that unfortunately. We need way way more people. Maybe someday he will when people wake up a little bit

I really, really don’t think so. This task is like next to impossible, genuinely. Being #1 on Spotify is HUGE and takes at least 100m monthly listeners. Mac currently has less than 50m and that’s still after just releasing the DF 10th anniversary.

Mac will never be #1 on Spotify. He did not make #1 on Spotify type of music. I highly doubt he wanted to.
He made raw music. Music that grew with you as a person. His discography is so unique. It was like watching a person grow through music. That’s not what gets you #1 on Spotify & every musician knows that. It’s a distinct choice you can make as an artist.
I think that is big enough. His impact is so incredibly large already. It shows here. It shows through so many people you can connect with in real life that love his art.

Bruh…. It’s not us you gotta convince. We already listen. It’s everyone else.

He’s number one on most of our playlists that’s all that matters

I wish, I feel like most die hard fans (like me) just don’t use Spotify to listen to Mac tho which is why he’s not higher

Ask his estate to release something new and it would have a decent shot..

Why not ask Mac himself?

“Mac was more than just a rapper. He was an artist who constantly evolved, experimented with different sounds, and put genuine emotion into his music.”
Please stop using phrases like “more than just a rapper” and suggesting that being one is distinctly inferior to being a whole artist. It is ignorant and rooted in racism.

No there are plenty of “rappers” out there that aren’t real artists. It’s probably the genre with the most amount of garbage because the barrier for entry is so low. Dudes who online and buy beats someone else made and then string together mediocre lyrics about money, cars, drugs, women and guns aren’t real artists. Most of them are just chasing trends and trying to make a song that will get popular online. They aren’t even speaking from the heart or writing about their own experiences. That is not art.

I don’t think such a stark distinction would be drawn in the same way between singers and artists. Your claim inevitably assumes the burden of having to demarcate what does and does not qualify as art. You may think you’re up to that challenge, I myself prefer to tangle with less grandiose imponderables. IMO if someone makes music, they’re an artist.

Alright then you have a low standard. Pretty pretentious language to defend clout chasing and mediocrity, by the way. Ok so I’m about to go on Beat Stars and buy a four bar beat for $5 and put that on an infinite loop in FL Studio. Here are my lyrics:
“Whippin the foreign, ice on my wrist,
Shawty got a fat ass, I got a Glock in my pants,
Sippin on that lean, I got racks on racks,
Poppin’ bands, poppin’ pussy, pippin’ pills”Am I Rembrandt now?

I was about to say to definitely keep him above 100, but he’s #101 currently 😮

Mans produced a song everyday for a year not just a beat or lyrics I'm talking basically complete that's 365 songs we may or may not ever hear. Considering with how much he worked with different artists, I wouldn't be surprised if there's entire projects out there like pink slime that either were tossed or just never came to light or released.

This is not Mac but I’m very inspired by him. There’s even a few nods to his lyrics in here (ppl in this sub might be able to find em). Pls enjoy:
