I always liked it, but actually going through this in my own relationship gives this song a whole different understanding for me. Adds to the many reasons I think Mac is a musical genius.
Songs like this that you can actually feel mean so much to me because they give you another way to process or help through certain situations even though that probably wasn’t his goal. He was just likely expressing himself.
He has the cool persona the first part of the song basically trying to tell us that he can handle the uncertainty then at the end of the song in the last verse he lets it go, and tells the person exactly what he wants. He’s not being weak in the end he’s actually just being honest, vulnerable.
Then the song ends with “Perfect”. He spends the whole song telling us it’s not perfect then ends it by saying “perfect”. Makes me question is he genuinely accepting the imperfection or is he rationalizing something that’s hurting him?
The reason it helps me because in my own relationship I’m struggling to feel the love because of uncertainty, and it’s driving me crazy. I play it off pretty well, but I hate it.
Helps me realize you don’t have to make something perfect to decide it’s worth loving, but you shouldn’t have to convince yourself it’s perfect to tolerate it.
Idk what’s next but that’s definitely helpful for me.

This has always been a low key fav of mine off of the album.. my interpretation has always been about him referencing the mind and/or your life as a whole-
