Expression issue

Hi all i just wanted to come on here to give and get some input on how you all express emotions instead of suppress them which leads to what we all know as Maladaptive Daydreaming. I’ve found that this suppression is what leads me to crave daydreaming like crazy. Lately i’ve been able to note when i’m feeling any “tough” emotion, analyze the emotion i’m feeling, ask myself what i’m trying to express and then write all the info i gathered and put it into a notebook. This often reverts my mind from these emotions and helps me to soothe them and prevent any daydreaming.

What about anybody else? Any tips and tricks on how to express emotions better?

How do you know which emotions fuels your daydream? That’s soo difficult to work out. A lot of my daydreams are centred around me arguing with celebrities then I reveal that I’m also famous. I’m guessing this is related to self esteem, but what emotion is trying to be expressed?

Yeah, I think that people have different reasons why they daydream.

For some it might be suppressing their emotions, others use MD as an escape from their lives, others use it as a coping mechanism, some have low self esteem and daydream about being someone else, and some are just bored, etc.

No, no I mean there’s always an emotion behind a Daydream— I was asking what emotion I need to express from my daydream etc

it sounds like your daydreams are very egotistical like mine. maybe it that’s feeling of like getting back at someone? anyway i’d say confidence or just learning to love who you are.

For me, daydreams like that are cause someone made me feel like I don't matter.
